Redmen Fall to 5th at Regionals (5-2-06) DUNCAN, Okla. --- Northeastern State faltered after two lengthy weather delays Tuesday in the NCAA Division II Mens Golf South/South Central Super Regional Tournament at The Territory Golf Club. NSU, which began the day tied for third, fell two spots to No. 5 with an eight-over 296 in the second round.With only 18 holes to play, the Redmen have a lot of ground to make up as rival Central Oklahoma leads the South Central Regional with a 578, 10 shots ahead of NSU. The Bronchos carded a seven-over 295 on Tuesday, some 12 shots worse than Monday's opening round 283. St. Edward's is second at 585, St. Mary's is third at 586, Cameron if fourth at 587 and NSU is fifth at 588. The final three teams consist of Abilene Christian (595), Western New Mexico (599) and East Central (619). Redmen senior Brad Risenhoover carded a one-over-par 73 and is tied for second place in the medalist race. UCO's Mitch Boles leads the tournament at four-under 140 with Risenhoover and Cameron's Travis Lovins one shot back. The regional champion from the South and South Central regionals advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament with the next three best scores in the super regional also earning at-large berths. The top individual not on an advancing team also qualifies for the national championship. Florida Southern is leading the South Regional with a score of 7-under-par 569. Lynn is second at 578, Rollins and West Florida are tied for third at 582 and North Alabama is fifth at 585. Barry (597) is sixth, followed by Eckerd (603) and Valdosta State (606). Redmen Tied for 3rd After 1st Day of Regionals (5-1-06) DUNCAN, Okla. – Top-seeded Central Oklahoma and No. 2 seed Florida Southern raced to convincing leads in their respective regions Monday in the opening round of the 2006 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships South/South Central Super Regional. The teams turned in the only sub-par team scores of the day to open up sizable advantages over their respective regional opponents on the 7,077-yard layout at The Territory Golf Club near Duncan.Florida Southern, ranked No. 4 in the national GolfStat Division II head-to-head collegiate rankings, turned in a sizzling team score of 278 (-10) and holds a 13-stroke advantage over third-ranked Lynn University entering Tuesday's second round. The Mocs posted four of the top eight individual scores on Monday in the South Region, including a pair of 69s on the par-72 track by Brett Blondell and Greg Koch. Both enter the second round tied atop the South leaderboard with Nick Gillaspy of Barry University and West Florida's Will Grace. FSC also got rounds of 70 (-2) from Marc France and Blake Holbrook to pull away from the field. Lynn posted a team score of 291 Monday, one stroke better than North Alabama and two ahead of West Florida and Rollins College. In the South Central Region, UCO used a pair of sub-par individual efforts to open up an eight-stroke advantage over host Cameron University. Mitch Boles tied Northeastern State's Brad Risenhoover for low daily round honors with a four-under 68, while Chance Tatum added a two-under 70 for the eighth-ranked Bronchos. Cameron, ranked No. 14 in the GolfStat rankings, was led by Travis Lovins' three-under 69 that put the Canadian, Texas, senior alone in third place entering Tuesday play. Peter Svajlen and Owen Mahaffey each carded rounds of 73 to finish the round tied for 12th individually in the region, while Matt Trammell finished with a 76 for the Aggies. Lone Star Conference champion Northeastern State and St. Mary's University produced team scores of 292 (+4) and lurk one stroke behind Cameron in a tie for third in the South Central Region. Action continues on Tuesday with the second round of play. The tournament will conclude with a final 18-hole round Wednesday at The Territory. NSU Wins Both LSC Golf Championships (4-18-06) TROPHY CLUB, Texas --- On a day when the heat was almost blistering, Northeastern State's men's and women's golf teams were the ones on fire as both claimed the team championships in the annual Lone Star Conference Golf Tournament at the prestigious Trophy Club Country Club.The Redmen won the title for the second straight year over Central Oklahoma, but it took a playoff to determine the outcome after both team tied at +1 for the 54 holes. However, Brian Ward's eight-foot birdie putt on the first hole solidified the championship as NSU's team score on par-5 hole was -2. UCO was -1. Central Oklahoma's Todd Dayton is medalist by virtue of his playoff win over Cameron's Owen Mahaffey on Hole 1. Redmen Finish 8th at Hal Sutton Intercollegiate (4-4-06) BOSSIER CITY, LA --- Northeastern State fired a final round 297 to finish in eighth place at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate at the Golf Club at Stonebridge on Tuesday.Stigler senior, Brad Risenhoover carded 3 under-par 69 in the final round to finish in third, five shots back of University of New Orleans's Kenji Murayama who won the medalist honor. Brian Ward, who was tied for fourth after the first day, finished tied for 10th after a final round 77. Other NSU scores, Sam Powell finished 32nd with 226, Chris Curran was tied for 55th with 236 and Kevin King was 59th with 239. Northeastern State was the only Division II team in the field of 13. Redmen in Eighth at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate (4-3-06) BOSSIER CITY, LA. ---- Northeastern State is in eighth place after the first two rounds at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate at the Golf Club at Stonebridge on Monday.The Redmen fired a two-round total of 597 which is 24 shots behind the leader Birmingham Southern. Brian Ward is tied for fourth in the medalists race after shooting a 2 under par 142, Brad Risenhoover is tied for ninth with a 1 over 145. Redmen Fall to Second at UCO Golf Event (3-28-06) EDMOND, Okla. --- Northeastern State faltered on the final 18 holes here Tuesday and host Central Oklahoma claimed a four-shot victory at the UCO/Kickingbird Classic at Kickingbird Golf Course.The Redmen led the Bronchos by seven strokes entering the day, but UCO rode the hot hands of Mitch Boles and Todd Dayton to overtake NSU at the end. Boles and Dayton both shot one-under 69s to help the Central Oklahoma cause. UCO, with its 278, was 11 shots better than NSU at 289. St. Mary's finished third at 846, followed by St. Edward's at 850 and Abilene Christian was fifth with an 869. First round leader, Brad Risenhoover, struggled to a three-over 73 on the final day and fell from first to a tie for fourth in the individual race. Redmen Lead UCO/Kickingbird Classic (3-27-06) EDMOND, Okla. --- Brad Risenhoover is tied atop the leaderboard and all five Northeastern State golfers placed in the top 15 to lead the Redmen to a first place showing after two rounds of the UCO/Kickingbird Classic at Kickingbird Golf Club here Monday.Despite windy conditions on the par 70 course, the Redmen blistered the lilnks to shoot nine-under-par (278-273-551) as a team and is seven shots ahead of host Central Oklahoma's 558. St. Mary's (Texas) had a 568, followed by St. Edward's at 573 and Dallas Baptist with its 584 round out the top five. Risenhoover is tied with STMU's Jamie Amoretti for the individual lead. Both golfers fired a five-under 135. Amoretti's 65 led after the first round but he followed it up with an even-par 70 on the second 18 holes. Risenhoover, however, carded a 69-66 and will be attempting to win his second tournament in as many weeks when play concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday. NSU's Kevin King also shot a 66 on the opening round but fell by the wayside with a two-over-par 72 in the second round. King, though, is tied for fourth place at 138. Brian Ward had rounds of 73-67-140 and is tied for eighth, while teammates Chris Curran had a 141 (70-71) and Sam Powell shot a 142 (73-69). Risenhoover Takes Medalists Honors; Brad Risenhoover won the medalist honors for the second time this year with a two-day score of 142, one shot ahead of UCO's Blake Bowman. Central Oklahoma fired rounds of 287 and 298 for a two day total of 585 to win the event, three shots ahead of Indian Hills CC and 13 shots better than Northeastern. Brian Ward finished in a tie for ninth with rounds of 69 and 80 for a 149, Joby Dutcher and Sam Powell tied for 19th with a two day total of 153. NSU Near Top at ECU Oak Hills Spring Classic (3-20-06) ADA, Okla. --- Brad Risenhoover and Brian Ward both carded three-under-par 69s and Northeastern State sits one shot out of the lead after the first round of the ECU Oak Hills Spring Invitational here Monday. Play was shortened to just one round of 18 holes when strong thunderstorms rolled through mid-afternoon.Risenhoover shot 34-35, while Ward fired a 32-37. However, Cameron's Travis Lovins bettered both with a five-under 67 to lead the individual race heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes. Indian Hills Community College, ranked No. 2 in the most recent NJCAA ratings, had a 285 to lead the event by one shot over NSU and two better than Central Oklahoma's 387. Host East Central was fourth at 294 and Cameron, at 295, rounded out the top five. NSU's other scores were: Sam Powell (T-12th) with a 73; Kevin King (T-22nd) with a 75; and Joby Dutcher (T-25th) with a 76. A total of 71 golfers are competing in the event. Redmen Win St. Edward's Spring Invitational; The Redmen finished nine shots ahead conference foe Central Oklahoma and 13 shots better than Cameron. Brian Ward took the Medalist honors shooting a final round 70, for a three-round total of 217. Brad Risenhoover tied for third with a three round total of 226, and Kevin King's total of 230 was good enough for a tie for 10th. The Redmen will be in action on March 20-21 at the ECU Oak Hills Invitational in Ada, Okla.

Redmen Finish 3rd at Rattler Invitational (10-11-05) San Antonio, Tx--- The final round of play was canceled Tuesday due to heavy thunderstorms in the area. The scores from rounds one and two are the final scores.Brad Risenhoover fired a round of 64 in the first round to win the madalists honors for the first time this year. As a team the Redmen's total of 574 was just eight shots behind champion Central Oklahoma and three shots behind Cameron. Redmen Finish Second in Classic (9-27-05) Muskogee, Okla. --- Northeastern State fired a final round 297 to finish second, five shots behind Washburn in the NSU Men's Golf Classic at the Muskogee Country Club this afternoon.Washburn's Matt Ewald claimed the medalist honors with rounds of 70, 65 and 71 to finish seven under and broke the tournament scoring record held by NSU's Brian Ward. The Redmen as a team shot a three-round (858), St. Mary's was third (869) and Western New Mexico (872) Ward started the day one shot behind Ewald and fell in a tie for fifth with a 214. Brad Risenhoover fired a 212 which was good enough for third. Redmen Lead NSU Classic (9-26-05) MUSKOGEE, Okla. --- Northeastern State holds on to a one shot lead heading into Tuesday final round of the NSU Golf Classic at the Muskogee Country Club.The Redmen fired rounds of 276 and 285 during Monday's opening two rounds and was able to keep a slim margin over Washburn with 18 holes to play. NSU's 276, a new school record of eight-under-par, came in the first round with Brian Ward's 69 providing much of the punch. However, the Ichabods bettered the Redmen's output in the second round with a nine-under 275 to pull to within a shot. Western New Mexico (580) is third, followed by St. Mary's (584) and Southwestern Oklahoma State (589). Washburn's Matt Ewald carded rounds of 70 and 65 for the lead in the individual medalist race, one shot ahead of NSU's Ward. Fellow Redman, Brad Risenhoover, is tied for third at 140 and Chris Curran is seventh at 142. Ward Nabs Medalist Honors at The Territory (9-20-05) DUNCAN, Okla. --- Northeastern State's Brian Ward captured the individual championship at the Territory Classic, hosted by Cameron University on Monday and Tuesday.Ward fired a 36-hole total of 141 (72, 69) to win medalist honors by two shots over Texas Wesleyan's Lance Vasquez and Tyler Duncan of St. Edward's. The news wasn't so good for the Redmen as a team, however. NSU, playing without its No. 1 player, Brad Risenhoover, finished in fifth place overall with scores of 308 and 297. Risenhoover missed the event when his wife went into labor on Monday forcing NSU to count all four scores without throwing out the high round. Redmen in 10th Place at Territory Classic (9-19-05) Duncan, Okla----- Northeastern State carded a 308 after the first two rounds, 21 shots behind leader Texas Wesleyan which shot a 287 at the Territory Classic in Duncan this afternoon.Redmen golfer Brian Ward had the low score of the day for NSU with a even par 72. Brad Risenhoover had to withdraw after playing nine holes because his wife went into labor. Texas Wesleyan's Lance Vasquez (70), Justin Smith (71) and Kevin Doskocil (71) are in second and a tie for third in for the medalist honors. St. Edward's Nick Cristea had the low round of the Tournament with a three under par 69.
